Is your communications program aimed at supporting the goals of the organization?  Do each of the elements complement the other or do you have a lot of “stuff?” Does it emphasize face-to-face interactions or is it heavy on the electronic approach. 

Here’s a handy checklist that you can use to get started on a new course.

  • Approach grounded in the goals of the organization
  • Emphasis on face-to-face interaction
  • Mix of face-to-face, print, and electronic media
  • Media selections complement one another
  • Establishes managers as communicators
  • Communication function supports, facilitates
  • Measureable
  • Accommodates feedback
  • Senior leadership engaged in the process
  • Repeatable
